When this car came on the market, the Datsun name was immediately abandoned and from now on it was known as the Nissan 300ZX. The 300ZX comes on the market in a number of versions. As a 2-seater and 2+2 seater, with or without a T-bar. In addition to the standard version, a turbo version will also be available on the market. The cars are equipped with a five-speed gearbox or a 4-speed automatic transmission. The 6-cylinder in-line engine that has been used for 15 years is replaced in this model by a 6-cylinder V-arrangement. The handling was greatly improved compared to the 280ZX.
It would become the fastest and most expensive Japanese sports car of that time. The entire promotion was based on the performance of this car. Many comparison tests were done with the well-known American sports cars of that time and every time the 300ZX turbo came out well. Still, there was plenty of commentary on the model by the “specialists”, but they all agreed on one thing, the 3 liter 6 cylinder turbo engine was a super engine.
A 50th anniversary edition of the 300ZX was published in 1984 in a limited edition of 5.000 pieces. Every conceivable luxury is on this car. Leather upholstery, bodysonic audio system, digital dashboard, spoilers and side skirts, 16″ rims, etc. The car is painted in 2 colors black and silver.
The specifications of cars delivered in Europe differ from those in America. The European version of the non-turbo engine produces a power of 170 hp DIN, in contrast to the American 160 hp DIN. The Turbo engine delivers 228 hp DIN in Europe compared to the 200 hp DIN in America.
In 1987 the model underwent a facelift. The angularity disappeared a bit and everything became a bit rounder and felt more streamlined. There were also some technical improvements. A new turbo, different injectors, improved suspension and shock absorbers, large brake calipers and a different anti-roll bar. The power steering has also been changed for steering feel and response.
This 300ZX Turbo is from 1985 and delivered new in Canada. The car was newly treated against rust, for which a certificate is available. The vehicle also comes with an original owner’s manual, a brochure, service manual, repair manuel and a warranty information book. In 2017, an odometer disclosure statement was issued that the mileage was 31.566 km. The Nissan was imported to the Netherlands in 2018. The car is in beautiful original condition both inside and out, with only minor scratches on the rear bumper. The car is equipped with the digital dashboard and the bags for storing the roof parts are still present. The car is equipped with leather upholstery, T-bar, a 4-speed automatic transmission, electric windows, electric mirrors, air conditioning and adjustable dampers.
