Based on the chassis of the W114 saloon, but with the engines from the larger and more powerful S Class cars, the SL was a near perfect blend of speed, refinement, safety and style, over-engineered in the world-famous Mercedes-Benz style. A stylish 2-seater drop head convertible, the car was an immediate success world-wide, thanks in part to the standard equipment of a fully lined factory hard-top that made the SL usable daily in all climates.
For the first time in the history of the SL series, the elongated bonnet of the R107 now concealed an 8-cylinder power unit. This 3.5-litre engine developed 200 hp (147 kW) and took just 9 seconds to accelerate the elegant two-seater from 0 – 100 km/h. In the period 1971-1980, 15.304 350SL’s where produced.
This Carnelian Red 350SL was produced in October 1972 for the Swiss market. A limited-slip differential was ordered as an option. The car got his first registration in Switzerland in March 1973.
The SL has an automatic gearbox, electric windows, fog lamps, green heat-insulating glass all around, power steering, hard top in body color with heated rear window, white wall tyres and a modern radio/navigation system. As an option we can deliver a period radio with 8-track. This beautiful low mileage 350SL is presented in remarkable condition with a fully documented history including service stamps in the original maintenance booklet and Data Card. In 2009 the car was imported to the Netherlands. It had two owners since. For maintenance the last owner went to the official Mercedes dealer. In May 2019, the Dutch organisation Ataxaties inspected the vehicle and valuated the Mercedes at € 45.600,--.
