The Fiat 850 has been available in many variants. Think of a sedan, coupé, convertible and even a minivan. The convertible version, named Spider, was designed by Bertone. This was a huge success: around 150,000 units were produced. The Americans loved it and a large part of these Spiders found their way to America. However, there was another variation on the Bertone 850 theme: the much rarer coupé variant, the Bertone Racer. The Racer was a coupé based on the Spider. Simply said, it was actually a Spider with a fixed roof whose lines were much more elegant and different from the usual coupé that Fiat produced.
Only 4000 copies of the Bertone Racer were built. Most of these cars were also destined for the American market. Unfortunately, the metal quality in these years was not high and these Fiats generally suffered a lot from rusting. As a result, a lot of the Bertone Racers have been lost. This 850 was also delivered in America at the time.
The car is in a good condition with a beautiful and original interior. However, the car is not perfect and, if an optimal condition is desired, in particular requires cosmetic work.
